I’d like to revisit a blog post from my previous blog, ajoblessexistence.com.<\/p>\n

Last year, I wanted to introduce the “kiss on the cheek greeting” to Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

After being more exposed to the fashion industry of the Twin Cities, I think it is time to be much more serious about this mission.<\/p>\n

I mean, I worked in the fashion industry as a model for FIVE YEARS in New York City. \u00c2\u00a0There’s no such thing as the fashion industry without kisses on the cheek.<\/p>\n

Oh wait. . . yes there is. . . <\/em>And it is in MINNEAPOLIS.<\/p>\n

What’s with all this hugging when you say hello to someone? \u00c2\u00a0And what’s even worse is that sometimes some people will just shake your hand.<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 Yeah, so cold!<\/p>\n

It’s a mission: impossible, but I’m determined to do it.<\/p>\n

I’m going to start kissing people on the cheek when I see them. \u00c2\u00a0Anyone. \u00c2\u00a0Man, woman, child, grandma, grandpa.<\/p>\n

Too bad it if makes you uncomfortable. \u00c2\u00a0It’s better than the hug. \u00c2\u00a0In so many ways.<\/p>\n

First of all, when you hug, what are you doing?<\/p>\n

Issue 1<\/strong>: \u00c2\u00a0Why are you pressing your body up against someone else’s?? \u00c2\u00a0That’s WAY more bodily contact that a kiss on the cheek. \u00c2\u00a0With a kiss on the cheek, you don’t even have to touch your lips to the cheek. \u00c2\u00a0You can just touch cheeks and make a “kiss” noise with your lips.<\/p>\n

Hugging begs the question of how many arms you need to use.<\/p>\n

Issue 2:<\/strong> \u00c2\u00a0One arm or two arm hug?<\/p>\n

Well it depends on how much bodily contact you want to have with the person you are hugging!<\/p>\n

Which brings up another issue!<\/p>\n

Issue 3:<\/strong>How much bodily contact do you make with people with a hug?<\/p>\n

With some people you want a lot. \u00c2\u00a0With others, not so much.<\/p>\n

You could do that one arm wrap around the shoulders. \u00c2\u00a0I know you know what I’m talking about.<\/p>\n

Or you could just reach around to someone’s back and give them quick little taps on the back. \u00c2\u00a0ARgh. \u00c2\u00a0I hate that one. <\/em>Those little pats are so belittling, aren’t they??<\/p>\n

Some people will give you the complete embrace. \u00c2\u00a0Two arms wrapped around you really tight and your chests are pressed up against one another. \u00c2\u00a0That’s WAY more contact than a cheek-to-cheek kiss!<\/p>\n

Which then leads to the next issue:<\/p>\n

Issue 4<\/strong>: \u00c2\u00a0How long<\/em> to you hug for?<\/p>\n

See with kissing on the cheek, it’s quick! \u00c2\u00a0No one sits there and lingers on your cheek.<\/p>\n

With hugs — really, how long do you<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0hug for? \u00c2\u00a0Man, that is awkward.<\/p>\n

Have you ever gotten stuck in that kind of hug that is just a tad too long? \u00c2\u00a0Like, you want to let go waaaaay before the other person lets go?<\/p>\n

See? \u00c2\u00a0Kisses on the cheek can solve all these issues.<\/p>\n
